Business Information Management I (BIM I)
In Principles of Business, Marketing, and Finance, students gain knowledge and skills in economies and private enterprise systems, the impact of global business, marketing of goods and services, advertising, and product pricing. Students analyze the sales process and financial management principles. This course allows students to reinforce, apply, and transfer academic knowledge and skills to a variety of interesting and relevant activities, problems and settings in business, marketing, and finance.
The goal of BIM I is not to memorize software commands, but for students to learn to apply technology in a meaningful way. Word processing activities are used to build communication skills. Spreadsheets are a tool for solving business math problems and creating informative charts. Databases are used to build information skills. Presentation and desktop publishing software are tools to inform and persuade. It is important that students learn to locate and apply information. Classroom material used must allow students to find information on their own.
